Because of resent events in my life I was forced to get rid of my xbox 360. I know that with in the next month or two I will be buying a new system. So I am wondering, is the WII for me. I would like your responds, what are the good things and bad things about the WII. What is your thoughts on the contorls. What are the good and bad games that are our there, and what is coming out (besides the force unleashed, and the clone wars which is really helping my choice) that I should know about. Any thougts on this would be great. If they are too long for this post please feel free to message me.ThanksThinking about a WII
So I am wondering, is the WII for me.
You're the only person who can find the answer to that question! :)You need to study the games available for each platform and decide which has more of the kinds of games which appeal to you. You need to decide how important online interaction is to you. Do you want the up-close and personal characteristics of Xbox Live or are the detached and impersonal characteristics of Nintendo WFC good enough? There is no perfect platform. You're going to have to make sacrifices one way or the other. Only you can decide which ones you are willing to make.Thinking about a WII
The good:it is a cheap price to start playing right out of the box. The console is small and can fit anywhere. The games are $10 cheaper than the other systems. It does well in local multiplayer and getting people together. Some cool games are WARIOWARE (If you want to see what the wiimote can do, buy this game) Zack and Wiki, Metroid Prime 3, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Zelda (I guess although I didn't like it all that much)the Bad: There are numerous bad games for Wii, I don't know where to start really. If you have a wired connection for internet you need to by the Nintendo specific adaptor because other adaptors won't workthere aren't a whole lot of games that go online and most that do lag. To play with friends you need to put in their friend code which is a 20 or so digit thing that let's be together.A lot of the 3rd party support games play crappy and don't use the motion controls well at all. Some games barely use motion control if at all. This makes some games no different than playing on a GC or PS2.Quite a few of the more core gamer games are just ports from PS2 or are aslo on PSP such as Okami, Prince of Persia (the two princes, with a different name), Mortal Kombat, Anubis, Manhunt 2, Resident Evil 4, and others. The multiplat games have less features compared to the PS3/360 versions like online and other things depending on which game it is. The hardware in some games seems downright outdated. I know this isn't a hardware pusher, but some games look like dreamcast for crying out loud. At least make the games look high end GC at the least. There are quite a bit of periphrerals that you will need to buy to play certain games like a classic style controller to play old school games bought from the online store and a balance board that will be used with some games in the future. There are also attatchments that are just a shell for the wiimote like the zapper and the wii wheel. Most games are only suited for multiplayer with 3 or more people so you will most likely be obligated to buy new controllers. This kind of puts the whole ''the wii is cheaper'' idea in the trash because after you buy the attatchments and all that other stuff mentioned above, you will end up spending like $400 or more anyway. If you play by yourself most of the time, your gaming selection will be quite limited. I mean there are games you can play by yourself but not a lot though. A lot of games are simple so if you are an experienced gamer from another system, you will find some games difficulty to be rather easy. All in All only get the Wii, if you are a hardcore first party Nintedo fan or have 3 friends you can play with on a constant basis. Otherwise get one of the other systems.
Buy a Wii! I was on the same boat as you about a month ago, and now that I have it, I love it! I purchased red steel along with my wii, and its awesome, don't listen to all those bashers. IMO, Wii rocks!
If you're a fan of all the games that the Xbox 360 had, I'd say no don't get a Wii because you won't be satisfied with the games.
What accessories should you buy with the wii and does it have a big enough hard drive or do you need to buy a memory card?
do you need to buy a memory card?
You don't need to buy a memory card because you can't play games directly from the SD card. So it's pointless. Fortunately, you can delete VC and WiiWare games and redownload them for free. So if you fill up the Wii's main memory, delete the games you play the least and if you want to play one of them again in the future, download it again for free.
It all depends on what type of games you like. For hardcore gamers there are games like Twilight Princess, Metroid, Okami, Mario galaxy, Smash bros brawl, Resident evil 4. There are also games like Warioware which may look like a stupid choice when you see screenshots of it, but when you start playing you are gonna have a lot of fun! I am quite ssure you won't regret buying a Wii if you do.
Do any of these games interest you:Wii- Super Mario Galaxy- Super Smash Bros. Brawl- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption- No More Heroes- Zack and Wiki- Trauma Center: New Blood- Mario Kart Wii- WiiFit- Okami- Super Paper Mario - Boom Blox - WiiSports - Resident Evil 4 (if you have yet to play this masterpiece) VC- Ninja Gaiden I - III- ActRaiser- Mario 64- Zelda: Ocarina of TimeJeez, VC games don't need to be explained . . .WiiWare- Lost Winds- Defend Your Castle - Dr. Mario Online And then there are of course future anticipated titles like the devlishly violoent but humorous MadWorld from SEGA, the Suda51 directed Fatal Frame (published by Nintendo), Tecmo Bowl Wii (a personal high on my list), new Nintendo IP Disaster: Day of Crisis, the heavily rumored Animal Crossing online, Kid Icarus, Castlevania Wii, and Pikmin 3 title.Just remember it always comes down to the games no matter what bells and whistles a system offers on its own. What are the games and do I want to play them?
So what do you all think of the WII remote. Is it hard to use. I am married, and my wife is not a hard core gamer. Do you think that she would have an easy time using it? Thanks for all the responds so far they have been great, kept it up. Has anyone seen the trailer for The Clone Wars game, and what is with spores coming for the WII? I am sure that I will have more questions. Once again thanks y'all.
