The Wii Lifespan

How long do you want the wii to last? I know the tendency is to want for the longest possible time like say 10 yrs like the PS3 campaign, but think about it, 8 years from now who knows what will be available as far as technolgy, not just graphics but control schemes etc. After 8 years and realising you have 2 more years with the wii while everyone is playing an un-godly realistic xbox 720, you will have to admit, you'll be jealous to some degree. Long lifespan isn't always the answer, not to say 5-7 years isn't a long life span in itself, but change is good, and $270 for 5 years is $54 or the price of a game a year for the entertainment of a console. Thoughts? The Wii Lifespan
I think Nintendo will stick with 5-year plan. By then, both Sony and Microsoft will have copied Nintendo's motion sensing technology and surpassed it. The Wii won't be able to compete at that stage. The Wii Lifespan
I think the 5 year lifespan Nintendo has normally gone with their consoles is perfect. Especially with the Wii considering its hardware will be even more outdated in a few years time.

Graphics would be nice.. Hopefully an updated internet community on par with x-box live.
No matter how long it lasts, or what Microsoft/PS/EA?? do for a console next gen, Nintendo will be there as they always have making awesome games, revolutionizing how you play them, and just making fun and accessable for everyone. And just as sure as that will be, people will still find some reason to complain about it, and say that it is inferior to the other systems just because it is different, or because they are a step ahead in most things and Xbox and PS only know how to copy Nintendo...(see Xbox Mii, analog contoller, Xbox making a motion sensitive contoller for the 360 etc...)
I kinda thought of a small idea. Lets say sony and microsoft dont ctach up for, oh i dont know, 2 gens later. And nintendo doesnt have another console planned. What they should do is upgrade your wii (Graphically, and memory, and all the other stuff) for free if you have haved you wii for more than 2 years. Just so it could keep up on the competition
Thing is when companies say 10 year plan, about 5 years of that plan is ''make it a secondary console, whilst we spend time and money on our new console'' which is basically what Sony are doing with the PS2.
I think games will still be made for it long after its become opsolite like the ps2 but the system is going to get hit hard buy Sony and Microsoft as soon as Mircosoft got in with consoles it shifted gaming from a casual area now its becoming very cutthrout you could see it at last years E3 and nintendo doesnt have the expernice outside of gaming that Sony and and Microsoft do and now that nintendo the leader from no where all attacts will be directed at snuffing out nintendo.
No more than 5 years, I think.
Around 5 years, but if their new system doesn't have backwards support, it could last another 2 years because of brawl.
I say 5 years with backwards compatability. Without, maybe 6 1/2- 7 years. What's going to stink is that we might not get to take games that we get from WiiWare to the next system.
if nintendo gets bought by sony then im not gonna buy any more games period even if they are greatand i hate xbox if they do fuse ill stop buying games and i hope they dont fuse then ill still buy games
Wii2 would challenge on graphics against ps4 but not xbox 720 and apple starts in the gaming buisness then ps4 and xbox 720 would be still on shelves but the nintendo will still be bought but not as much as the I gamerthe I gamer plays all systems and games except segas and nintendos for the same price as the wii2

well i suspect that the wiis successor will be on the market around 2011-2012.however if demand for wiis and wii games remain high then i doubt ninty would just drop it. id imagine that they would continue to support it as long as there was enough demand.

that has nothing to do with purchasing Nintendo.but then i'm not even sure if you're replying to my post because your posts don't make any sense.
I say 5 years, PS3 could handle 10 years though.
I'm expecting it to go the Sony route with a 6+ year lifespan. Nintendo's next console will probably be out in about 4 years, but the Wii will continue to get support at least an year or two after its successor is released.
